Houston Energy Brian Wiggins Guests on WFB Talk

On Sunday, September 2 we had a very special guest on the show, Head Coach and Owner Brian Wiggins of the WPFL Houston Energy as well as Executive Director for the WPFL (Women’s Professional Football League).

Coach Wiggins went from college to the New England Patriots where he was released in 1991 and then to the New Orleans Night Arena Football Team in 1992. He then played in the Canadian Football League for the Calgary Stampeders from 1992-1994 where he helped his team win the Grey Cup Championship in 1992. He was also named the Western Division Rookie of the year. He played for Carolina Panthers from 1995-1999 in their first years as an expansion team. After playing , Brian was Head Coach and General Manager of the San Antonio Matadors for one year (Spring Football League-now obsolete). Brian now owns his own mortgage company, First Choice Mortgage (1999-present).  This will be his fourth season with the Houston Energy.

Coach Wiggins shared with us his perspective on everything from coaching style to league issues such as team awareness, sponsorship and why merging of the leagues would put a better product on the field.
